The 4th Annual David Posnack JCC (DPJCC) Racquetball Tournament sold out again and based on the player feedback and funds raised, was a complete success! Not only was the competition and sportsmanship at its best, we were able to raise about $8,000 for programming and scholarships for camp and school. We’d like to thank all of our players, sponsors and donors, including the FLORIDA RACQUETBALL ASSOCIATION (FRA) for participating in the success of the DPJCC tournament.
A non-sanctioned tournament such as ours is good for promoting the game of racquetball. Over 65% of our players are not members of the USAR or the FRA. Our indoor tournament had a mix of outdoor players, first time tournament players, club players; and some players who have not played in a tournament for many years. We know that many of these players enjoyed the experience so much that they go on to play in other “sanctioned” tournaments, thus fueling the growth of racquetball.
Some player feedback we are pleased to share:
“This was my first tournament and the experience has completely changed my view of the game.…... I made it to the semi-final round and I am determined to win my next tournament. When and where is it?” Jon, 1st Tournament Player
“There are so many good things I can say about my first ever indoor tournament…. This tournament has made me really want to learn the indoor game even more and to play in more tournaments down the road. Just as soon as I can make the ceiling and back wall my friends, or at least better acquaintances. :-) Rick, Susan, Mike, DPJCC and FRA, You all Rock!!!” Bree, Outdoor player
“I will definitely play in other racquetball tournaments. This was a fantastic first tournament to start with. It was so much fun and I got to meet so many great people..... I am already looking forward to the next tournament!” Alyssa, 1st tournament and Ladies A’s winner
Tournament such as ours is a “win-win-win”…. WIN for charity, WIN for the host facility, and a WIN for racquetball. We are committed to Grow The Game!
